When you know better, you do better. – Maya Angelou
This quote was one that I heard from an Oprah episode when the great Maya Angelou was on the show. This is one of those simple, yet profound statements that really makes you think.
We have all made mistakes. We have all looked back and seen situations where we wished we had handled things differently.
Instead of beating yourself up about how you handled that situation, recognize that you acted with the level of knowledge and capabilities that you had at that moment.
If you now have a better understanding of how to handle yourself in a similar situation, be grateful that you are now in that higher state of awareness. Take that forward into situations that come at you.
You can’t go back and change the past, but you can look at those experiences as platforms to grow instead of looking at them as mistakes.
Now that you know a better way to be, be it. Pat yourself on the back for being better than you were yesterday and remember that some people never grow and instead continue to make the same mistakes over and over. Not you! You know better.
